Two hours prior to our first of three performances here at the Near West Theatre, a ruptured power line caused an explosion that knocked out power on the entire block. That coupled with a flash flood threatened cancellation of the show, however about a dozen people had braved the elements to make it to the theatre. To show our appreciation to them, we offered to perform act one in a makeshift setting (right behind those doors) just to give them a sample and hopefully drum up business for the next two nights... but theatre is a drug and we were the pushers. They didn't want to be left hanging, so we ended up doing the entire play. It went off without a hitch, and the facilitated dialogue afterwards had a more personal feel to it. Definitely one for the memory bank.
